Our 7th Anniversary with Garth Brooks!

Today was our 7th wedding anniversary. As I was looking at our wedding pics... we look so young and skinny!!! Not that I'm admitting we're old and fat, we're just not young and skinny anymore. A lot has happened in our 7+ years together.


Anyway, Adam made egg-pancakes for all of us for breakfast and then his sister Atalie came by to watch the girls so Adam and I could go to the Garth Brooks concert!!!

I was SOOOOOO excited. I love Garth and it was on our anniversary! Since he has been retired for many years so this concert was a huge deal. Originally he was to do one charity concert on Sat. to benefit the fire victims in southern California, but the tickets sold out within minutes, so Garth agreed to do another show earlier on Sat. But then it sold out within minutes. The Staples Center was available for two days only (Fri & Sat) so Garth agreed to do a show on Friday, which sold out within minutes. So now there are 5 charity concerts, 2 on Friday (5pm & 9pm) and 3 on Sat. (1pm, 5pm & 9pm). We went to the 1pm show. ALL tickets sales, vendor sales, ticketmaster's fees, etc were 100% donated to the fire victims fund. Garth, his band and crew all donated their time too. CBS aired the Friday night concert to help raise more money. Garth mentioned that almost 7 million had been raised to help the victims and to give the local fire stations updated/proper equipment.




Here we are! We had nose-bled seats, but it was right behind the stage, so it was fine.

This is one of my favorite Garth songs. Garth had the audience sing with him, the lights were on so you could see the whole arena, everyone was singing along, it was so cool and emotional.

Country fans know Garth's wife, country star Trisha Yearwood, who made a special guest appearance and sang "In Another's Eyes", their award-winning duet from 1997.

Here is the video of her coming on stage singing her part "In Another's Eyes" and the crowd going nuts!

After "In Another's Eye's" the entire band left the stage and Trisha sang "Walkaway Joe" with just Garth playing his guitar. (Pic below) So romantic and cool. Just an FYI, in her "Walkaway Joe" video (made in 1992), Joe was played by Matthew McConaughey!

"Friends in Low Places" (Warning: this is video from the third verse (the verse added after it was released) which has one naughty word, it rhymes with glass) This is always a crowd pleaser. This was the last song before the 2 encores. Four firefighters came out on stage with confetti canyons.

The first encore he sang "Ain't Going Down (Til the Sun Comes Up)" and a few other songs.

The second encore just Garth came back with his guitar. He talked about what influenced him and sang his favorite songs from George Straight, Keith Whitley, Dwight Yoakam and others. He then talked about the year his album came out and the other newcomers that year (Clint Black & Alan Jackson) and then the fiddler took the stage playing Garth's first single "Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old)" and the rest of the band joined in. The End. The concert was about 2 hours long and worth every minute.

When we got home the girls made anniversary posters for us. Katie's is above, Meg's is below.
Atalie left and then April came over so Adam and I could go out to dinner alone. It was a great day. Happy Anniversary babe!!
