50th Anniversary Party

Today we celebrated Adam's grandpa Sam and his wife Vada's 50th anniversary. (Sam was first married to Adam's grandma, but they divorced after 4 years; then he married Vada)

Sam and Vada were married on December 28, 1957. Because of the Christmas holiday, the party was held in January. Here is a flyer that was at the party, it shows the couple 50 years ago on their wedding day and then inside the heart is them now.
First this was a surprise party! And everyone was encouraged to dress up like the 50's, which we did. When Sam & Vada arrived they were so surprised. They were told their friend was singing at the community center, so they came to hear her sing and instead entered the room with all us saying surprise!!! They were shocked and both had tears in their eyes.

The cake next to a picture from their wedding day 50 years ago. There was cute napkins with their name and the wedding date too.

Sisters! Adam's mom Babette and her sister Julie rockin' the 50's look.

Here we are. I made the girl's poodle skirts and mine (with plenty of elastic for my growing belly). Katie had a pink poodle and Meg and I had white poodles.

Some of Adam's family at the table. L-R, Taylor, Atalie & Randy, Morgan, Babette and Andrew, with Meg and Katie in front.

Adam's Uncle Danny rockin' the tunes!

Katie dancin' to a song. (The friend who was the 'decoy' is singing behind Katie, since she was the decoy to get Sam and Vada to the party she did sing 3 oldies)

Sam and Vada thanking everyone for coming. Many guests were from out-of-state. Adam's aunts who hosted were expecting 60 to 75 guests, over 110 people were there.

Meghan dancing with her great-Aunt Carrie.

Adam's family. L-R: Katie, Andrea, Adam, April, Andrew, Morgan, Aric, Babette, Meghan, Taylor, Atalie and Randy. We were all rockin' with the 50's look.

Sam and Vada's family. L-R: Babette, Julie, Teresa, John, Vada, Sam & Kathy.

A bunch of the family.

Meghan with her great-grandpa Sam.

It was a fun afternoon. Sam and Vada were completely surprised. Good food and music. And fun times with family.

Way to go! You made all of those skirts?! I'm very impressed.

Cute theme for an anniversary.

Hmm... maybe an Austin Powers 60's for the 60th?
